The Faceless have developed a large following. The combination ofblistering guitar work, complex and fast-pacedrhythms, offset by haunting keyboards and brutal vocals from singer Jeff Ventimiglia, set TheFaceless in a class with themetal legends who have come before to change metal forever. Formed by guitarist Michael Keene and bassist Brandon Giffin, theband quickly found the perfect mix ofdedicated musicians to complete the lineup. I can’t wait to see them again. The Faceless is a technical death metal band from Los Angeles who have astonished their live audiences with dizzying guitarwork, lightning fastdrumming and unmatched brutality. They played Planetary Duality from start to finish, which was epic to hear. The instrumental solos were tight, and the other band members gave it their all and got the audience dancing along when each member was doing a solo. His voice really is something else, the tone that he creates seems to be done with such ease and control, so that after their two hour set, his voice was still as strong as their opening number. The energy of the band from start to finish was incredibly high, and the singer was jumping around the stage, on top on the amps, and even out into the audience time and time again. There was a blackout and the sound of timpani playing over on orchestral piece of really epic music, and the lights came up, and The Faceless were standing in their positions ready to rock our as the music transitioned into the opening of The Ancient Covenant. It really is that kind of genre of music that becomes so much more epic in a live setting. I always forget how much I enjoy death metal until I hear it performed live.
